There also happened to be this 3 years old boy was in a bad shape after being beaten by his mums lover. The boy was hospitalized in Denver but the grandfather was in LA. The boys life support was about to be switched off and his organs would be used in saving other people. The grandfather got a seat with Southwest Airlines booked by the wife who went ahead to recount the story to the airline staff. The man got to LAX two hours early but was 12 minutes late in getting to the gate. However, the pilot has still waited for him.
