The number of teeth a baby and an adult have differed, an adult has thirty-two teeth while a baby has twenty. The importance of human teeth in a human body cannot be overlooked. Teeth chew food making swallowing of the food easier. Teeth also play an important role in speech. A tooth has many parts used for different purposes. One part of the teeth is physically seen while the other is underneath the gum. Understanding teeth well help one give the teeth the care which is required. Below are some of the facts about teeth.
All the human teeth are different. The uniqueness found in fingerprints is also found in teeth. The size, shape, and composition are different in different teeth. Ones individuality can be determined by the teeth in his or her mouth. Four types of teeth are available in one’s mouth. Premolars, molars, canines, and incisors are the four types of human teeth. Teeth are arranged from the front of the mouth to the back of the mouth in this order; incisors, canines, premolars, and molars. Cutting, tearing and cutting are the purposes of human teeth.
Human teeth are there even before birth. Once a baby is born, teeth are not visible because the teeth are covered by the gum. Milk teeth pop out of the gum when a baby is around six months old. Incisors teeth pup through the gum first before the other teeth. Pronunciation and chewing is made easier when milk teeth appear in a baby’s mouth. Milk teeth fall out for the adult teeth to appear. The number of adult teeth is thirty-two.
Bacteria are available in human teeth so the teeth should be cleaned regularly. Some bacteria in the mouth are not bad while others are bad. Some bacteria aid in the digestion process. Closure of the mouth most of the times aids in the growth of bacteria in the mouth. Saliva in the mouth attracts bacteria to the mouth. Teeth and the spaces between them should be properly cleaned to remove these bacteria. Teeth are cleaned using toothbrush presently and other materials were used to clean them in the past.
Tooth body parts are protected against exposure by the tooth enamel. Tooth enamel is found on the outside of the tooth and it is very hard. The tooth enamel is very resilient and can withstand many things. The other parts of the tooth are soft and cannot withstand many contacts. The enamel protects the important soft tissues of the tooth. Teeth should be taken good care of since they don’t have spare parts.
